There are towns on the map, and you use heros to conquer them.Good point dog, but imo wc3 is in fact more deep.Hi, I want to get an RTS for my iPad or iPhone that is like Starcraft or Warcraft, so I've been looking around online. The premise is similar to Warcraft 3 as you will see in the description below, but the gameplay is not at all similar. Maybe FFT, but that's a big stretch. Not familiar with Disgaea, but it's not a whole lot like any of the other 3.

Yes lusted taurens rape footies and frost wryms kill peasants, but early and mid game no unite has an especially huge advantage over the other one, they are just difforent and micro is what's going to earn you the advantage, not macro.I played a game against an NE last night. We did this so that you could actually enjoy the strategical elements of this game like micro, planing ahead, trickery, and making a complex army to do many difforent things with limited food." There are very few unites with CLEAR unite counters. People think this is making it "noobed out" but all it does is say, "Ok this is starcraft without ungodly macro requirements. It's very easy to make unites and manage your town while microing your unites at the same time. It was more of a game of who sucked less then who had the better rts game plan.Wc3 makes macro very easy.
When my pally is about to die I hit D which activates devine sheild. He decides to focus fire on my pally. He sees this and mana burns my AM and then tells all his hunts to focuses fire on him. It doesn't look good for me. I have an Arch MAge and a pally, some casters, and some footies. He has 15 hunts, a KOTG and a DH.
Meanwhile my footies and milltia have destroyed half his stuff. The pally runs to the back to regen life. Then he goes after pally when devine sheild runs out, but right as he's about to die, a sorc casts invisibility on him. AM uses wand of negation and runs away.
There is (almost) always a taco option or CmdrTaco reference to the polls that run on slashdot. Since a different newb exposed himself to your mighty veteran scorn, thus leaving me safe, would you mind explaining to me the deeper meaning and significance behind this Taco business? Before this goes too OT, the Taco option comes from CmdrTaco from. That is what I call real time strategy!Hey, I'm an Ars newbie too.
That is where the Ars taco option comes from.Tough to compare the two for 2 very important reasons:1. Caesar even temporarily changed Peter's title to "Taco B(ell/ueno) rulez me" or something along those lines. The Ars Taco Option comes from a long ago thread started by PeterB after he came to the US and ate at either Taco Bell or Bueno (can't remember) and made a big deal over it. Has nothing to do with Ars' taco option. Perhaps you were thinking of CowboyNeal? There's always a CowboyNeal silly option, not a taco.Regardless, CmdrTaco of /. I have never seen a Taco option in one of their polls.
Games Like Warcraft 3 And Starcraft Plus Starcraft And
WC3 is a direct evolutionary descendant of Warcraft I and II plus Starcraft and Broodwars. Ideas makes this comparison apples and oranges.2. Different technologies and A.I. This makes it a 5yr old game with a 4yr old expansion pack.
Whether it was parasiting an overlord to show all hidden enemy units or using an Arbiter to perform the dreaded "Reaver drop", Starcraft offered so many treats that two players could come up with serveral different strategies for using the exact same units. Though both games feature specific counter-units for every unit, Starcraft also featured abilities that could be exploited in many different ways. Starcraft also didnt have any "cheese" attacks such as the "cyclone" spell from the Night Elves nor the Steamtank Rush from the humans. WC3 focuses more on the battle between armies rather than total management of resources and base defenses. Thus WC3 should be better than Starcraft just like Starcraft 2 should be better than everything that came before it.Having said that, I still think Starcraft is still deeper than WC3. Much of the unit balancing and even the structures resemble Starcraft in function and defense.
(I think I forgot to save the replay where I was being a bitch with just Protoss mage units and my friend just sent like 8 hotkeys of marines at me.)Cyclone is analogous to the Arbiters' Stasis Field, only it only hits one unit at a time. The concepts behind both games are very similar. Plague can be cured by Terrans, and while it and Psi-storm are awfully effective against small clumps of air units (which stack), they won't do much to marauding hordes of small units. Dark Swarm is ineffective against melee and splash damage, and stops your own ranged attacks. Finally, its a testament to the greatness of Starcraft that a 5yr old game is still the standard by which most RTS-games are measured.Starcraft also didnt have any "cheese" attacks such as the "cyclone" spell from the Night Elves nor the Steamtank Rush from the humans. What about psi storm, dark cloud (or whatever its called ),plague ,emp shockwave?Y'know, in like 95%+ of BNet games, you'll never see Dark Swarm (in my experience). Are they really so cheap? They have their place and counters, too. I've been able to use many Protoss ideas with the Undead and even Zerg strategies with the Orcs.
You really need mixed forces in both games.Terrans in SC, IMO, are the worst example of being able to stick to a single “best-case” unit (Battlecruisers). Polymorph and Plague both needing some guys on hand to finish the job), and hordes of little guys will overwhelm the mages due to limited mana / energy (and casting delays in War3). It's like, a handful of big guys will often own hordes of little guys, but mages will own the big guys with enough support (e.g. That's what I was talking about with mages vs.
View image: /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin. Your best bets are probably Plague (ignores armor), back off, attack some spell to freeze the units (Stasis Field against half the force or use Lockdown individually, but the latter is tough if the BCs are stacked) and attack what remains / attack the Lockdown'd guys and run to their base and kick its ass while their BCs hobble around the map like one-legged gophers. Even dedicated air-to-air units (Wraith, Scout, Devourers + Mutas, Scourge) will get terrible ratios against BCs for the cost.
